Turkmenistan and Japan have held talks on establishing direct air service, following which a document to this effect was signed.
The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Japan also reports that a representative delegation lead by the Chairman of the The State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan Rahimberdy Jepbarov visited Tokyo from 13 to 16 December.
Negotiations were held with the heads of Japanese government agencies, financial institutions and leading companies.
"The Turkmen delegation discussed the implementation of previously reached agreements and new opportunities for the development of cooperation in the energy sector and on the path to carbon neutrality."
A number of documents were signed during the visit.
Experts told Daryo that the impetus for business cooperation between the two countries was given by former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's official visit to Ashgabat in October 2015, which resulted in investment agreements worth $18bn.
Japanese companies have implemented large-scale projects in the gas chemical and gas turbine power industries, as well as supplied specialised equipment for projects in the fuel and energy complex, transport and water resources management.
