Uzbekistan has successfully exported 250 tons of grapes to the United States, marking a significant milestone in the country's agricultural trade, Uzbek Retail reports. The shipment, originating from Ferghana, was transported via plane to New York. A correspondent from Dunyo news agency has reported that the initial trial batch of Uzbek "Husayni" grapes received considerable attention from American consumers, based on market research conducted in the US.
The demand for these grapes was evident when the first ton, delivered to New York from the Altyaryk district of the Ferghana region in early November, sold out within a mere two days. Building upon this success, negotiations took place to secure a larger batch for supply. Consequently, a new export contract worth $2 mn was signed between "E.L.A. Superior Produce Inc." in the USA and "Serakhun LLC" in the Fergana region.
Under the terms of the contract, the agreed-upon 250 tons of grapes from Ferghana will be transported by air to New York for regular sale at NetCost food shopping centres.
Uzbek diplomats are actively engaged in efforts to expand the export of dried fruits from Uzbekistan to the United States and Canada. Their endeavours aim to tap into the potential of these markets and further enhance Uzbekistan's presence in the global agricultural trade sphere.
