Turkmenistan's parliament has approved the state budget for 2024 with revenues and expenditures of 102.3bn turkmen manat. The law was published in the official local press.
The official exchange rate to the dollar has been maintained at 3.50 Turkmen manat since January 2015.
The document states that in the event of a budget deficit, the sources of financing will be funds from state loans and (or) formed balances of budgetary funds.
Protected expenditure items include wages, pensions, state benefits and scholarships.
Turkmenistan holds one of the key positions in the region in terms of natural gas supplies: the importers are China, Russia, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
