    President of Kyrgyzstan boosts cooperation with Japan: joint statement signed in Tokyo

    President Sadyr Japarov of the Kyrgyz Republic, on an official visit to Japan, engaged in crucial discussions with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Tokyo. The talks centered on the current state and future prospects of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Japan, with a special focus on the "Japan + Central Asia" framework.

    Prime Minister Fumio Kishida expressed his satisfaction at meeting President Sadyr Japarov and welcomed his visit to Japan. He acknowledged Kyrgyzstan as a friendly partner and expressed Japan's commitment to enhancing collaboration across various sectors.

    During the discussions, Prime Minister Kishida highlighted the Japanese government's eagerness to expand mutually beneficial partnerships with Kyrgyzstan, particularly in the realms of trade, economics, and investments. The leaders explored avenues for increased cooperation, underscoring the potential for joint initiatives that could contribute significantly to both nations' development.

    President Sadyr Japarov, reciprocating the warmth, extended his gratitude for the warm hospitality and emphasized the friendly and congenial nature of Japan-Kyrgyzstan relations. He credited Japan for its support, which has resulted in the successful implementation of projects and programs contributing to Kyrgyzstan's socio-economic progress.

    A notable outcome of the meeting was the signing of a Joint Statement on Friendship and Comprehensive Partnership in a New Era between Kyrgyzstan and Japan. President Japarov hailed this development as the commencement of a new chapter in the historical friendship between the two nations.

    Taking advantage of the occasion, President Japarov extended an invitation to Prime Minister Kishida to visit Kyrgyzstan at a mutually convenient time, further solidifying the people-to-people ties.

    To strengthen economic collaboration, both parties proposed the creation of a joint Intergovernmental Commission on trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation. Additionally, they expressed the intent to work towards signing an Agreement on Mutual Protection of Investments.

    The leaders expressed confidence that the ongoing visit and the agreements discussed would elevate the cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Japan to new heights, fostering stronger ties in various domains.
