Ravshan Usmanov, the newly appointed Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United Kingdom, has recently arrived in London. Born in 1978, Usmanov has an impressive academic background. He is an alumnus of the prestigious University of Birmingham in the UK, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, and Tashkent State Law University.
Usmanov embarked on his diplomatic career in the year 2000. He has served in various capacities within the foreign policy department, including positions at the central office and the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Spain. His leadership skills were further recognized when he was appointed to lead the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Department for Cooperation with Europe and NATO.
Before his current prestigious appointment, Usmanov has represented Uzbekistan in several countries. He has served as the ambassador to France, Italy, and Portugal. His most recent assignment before this was in Malaysia in 2018. His vast experience and diplomatic acumen have earned him respect in diplomatic circles.
Usmanov succeeds Said Rustamov, who has held the position of ambassador to London since 2019. Rustamov’s tenure was marked by significant developments in the bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom. As Usmanov takes over the reins, it is expected that he will continue to build on this foundation and take the relationship between the two nations to new heights. His arrival in London marks the beginning of a new chapter in Uzbekistan’s diplomatic relations with the United Kingdom.
