Germany's development bank KfW is set to contribute nearly €30mn to enhance vocational training in Uzbekistan, according to an agreement signed by Laziz Kudratov, the head of the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade (MIIT), and KfW portfolio manager Vitalis Ritter.
The grant agreement, totaling €16mn, includes €2mn in project support. The primary focus is on vocational training, with €14mn allocated for the construction, repair, and equipping of single-unit employment centers nationwide.
A second grant agreement aims to advance medical worker training in Termez. The plan involves the creation of a simulation training center with a budget of €13mn, along with €500,000 for expert services.
This initiative aligns with Uzbekistan's commitment to enhancing skills and capabilities, fostering economic development, and ensuring a competent workforce to meet evolving industry demands. The funds from KfW will play a pivotal role in bolstering vocational training infrastructure and advancing medical education in the region.
Earlier Daryo the "Tuberculosis-Free Uzbekistan" initiative, a five-year program by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Uzbekistan's Ministry of Health in partnership with Abt Associates, aims to enhance accessibility to crucial tuberculosis services. With a focus on tackling drug-resistant tuberculosis, the project will receive an $18mn investment.
