On November 9, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, is set to embark on an official visit to the capital of Kazakhstan, at the invitation of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Akorda reports. This visit will include negotiations between the leaders of both countries, focusing on the current matters pertaining to the Kazakh-Russian strategic partnership.
The two presidents will also participate in the XIX Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia, conducted through videoconference from Kostanay. The Interregional Cooperation Forum serves as a significant backdrop for this high-level meeting, and experts highlight the tradition of presidential addresses at this event. This year, the spotlight will be on agricultural development, digitalization, and engaging the youth in this sector.
Alibek Tazhibaev, a Kazakh political scientist, anticipates that this year's forum will revolve around agricultural development, emphasizing that the Russian market is vital for Kazakh farmers. Tazhibaev points out that approximately 40 million people reside in Russia's border regions, making it a substantial consumer of Kazakh agricultural products. The event is expected to yield numerous agreements between entrepreneurs, businessmen, and local executive bodies.
Beyond trade and economic cooperation, the forum will serve as a platform for sharing experiences, knowledge, and enhancing trade relations. It comes at a crucial juncture for Kazakhstan, especially in light of issues related to energy security.
The Vice Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Serik Zhumangarin, underscores the economic and trade aspects of the visit, while also pointing out that the forum of interregional cooperation has been ongoing for almost two decades. He emphasizes the importance of addressing residents' and businesses' issues from both countries.
Alibek Tazhibaev concurs with the significance of the forum, emphasizing the potential for various agreements to be signed between Kazakhstan and Russia, not only as a result of the forum but also through bilateral interaction.
“The President of Russia is distinguished by high awareness and competence; his point of view on global and regional processes largely determines the nature of the situation in the modern world. Important features of the Kazakh-Russian dialogue are constructiveness and focus on a mutually acceptable result. We always try to take into account the position of our Russian partners, and they try to take our opinions into account. We plan to thoroughly discuss issues of bilateral political, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation. Let us consider aspects of interaction within international organizations and integration structures. We will exchange views on the current state and prospects for the development of the international situation,” said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
As Tokayev notes, these discussions underscore the commitment of both nations to maintaining good neighborly relations and an alliance in the 21st century, with the 10th anniversary of the Treaty on Good Neighborhood and Alliance in the 21st Century further solidifying their aspirations for the future of Kazakh-Russian relations.
