Chairman of the Turkmen People's Council Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to Beijing, China, spoke at the "One Belt, One Road" international cooperation forum, Turkmenistan Khabarlary state agency reports.
"Important elements of the Turkmen approach are the depoliticisation of cooperation, moving away from unilateral energy and transport flows in favour of their diversification and accessibility for broad international participation."
Berdimuhamedov also noted that recent realities - pandemic, growing instability, decreasing trust and predictability - have negatively affected global economic activity, caused problems in interconnectivity, reduced the degree of effectiveness in the implementation of plans and programmes in the sphere of sustainable development.
According to him, overcoming these negative factors requires the joint efforts of states and international institutions, their solidarity in establishing a constructive and constructive agenda based on goodwill, responsibility and foresight.
Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan's vision of the future of the geo-economic landscape of Eurasia is in line with China's "One Belt, One Road" strategy, where the main principles are equality, mutual benefit, respect for the diversity of cultural and spiritual values.
Turkmenistan is the main supplier of pipeline gas to China. Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan provide transit. Ashgabat wants to develop markets in South Asia and Europe.
