The event aims to uphold and advance the long-established customs of domestic filmmaking, promote cultural and educational initiatives in Uzbekistan, foster cultural connections on a global scale, encourage patriotic sentiments, fortify bonds of friendship among nations, broaden the horizons of creative collaboration among diverse countries, and revive the renowned Tashkent International Film Festival.
This year's festival is expected to host such prominent figures in the acting world as Samy Naceri, Frederick Diefenthal, Osamu Yamamoto, and others. Among producers, screenwriters, and film directors, are Emir Kusturica, Arthur Weber, Petros Kasimatis, Yumiko Masuda, and many more.
The first TIFFEST took place from 21 to 31 October 1968 (at first, it was not an annual festival) and was attended by representatives of 22 Asian and African countries. Since then, the number of guest countries has been increasing, as well as the variety of events during the days of the festival.
