The Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Serik Zhumangarin, has reported that trade between Kazakhstan and the Chinese province of Shandong has already exceeded $1bn since the advent of 2023.
Zhumangarin has also highlighted the potential for exports of around 170 items, valued at approximately $1bn, focusing on the agro-industrial sector.
Kazakhstan's agricultural produce has proven successful in Central Asia, the European Union, and the Middle East, with exports to China having risen by 2.5 times last year, reaching $548mn, compared to the 2021 year's figure.
The Chairman of the Presidium of the "Atameken," Raimbek Batalov, has expressed a keen interest in the agricultural sector and notes that Shandong is a leading province in agricultural technology, with a willingness to share its knowledge.
After the business forum, agreements relating to agriculture, logistics, and sports cooperation were signed. The Secretary of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee of the Communist Party, Lin Woo, has stated that this visit to Kazakhstan represents a concrete step in the implementation of important agreements between the two countries, with significant potential for expanding cooperation in areas such as transforming agricultural products, trade, and building logistics infrastructure.
Earlier, Daryo reported that Kazakhstan has resumed shipping wheat to China. The first batch of Kazakhstan's grain was delivered to the province of Shandong, with the potential for annual grain deliveries to China to increase to 1mn tons.
