The global community is on the brink of a catastrophic situation due to the imminent danger of nuclear weapons usage, warns Chaba Kyeröshi, the President of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.
According to TASS, he made this grave observation during a session dedicated to the International Day against Nuclear Tests. Kyeröshi underscored the alarming reality of increasing nuclear weapon capabilities and stockpiles, which contradicts the principles of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
He highlighted the record-breaking global military spending of $2.2 trillion in 2022 and stressed the critical importance of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty as a cornerstone of international disarmament.
Kyeröshi unequivocally asserted that any use of nuclear weapons, regardless of the purpose, will lead to a situation spiraling beyond control. He firmly dismissed the notion of a "limited nuclear war" as non-existent.
