From August 26 to 30, Änjali Kaur, the Deputy Assistant Administrator (DAA) of the Bureau for Asia in the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), will visit Uzbekistan to enhance the development partnership between the U.S. and Uzbekistan.
During her stay, Änjali Kaur will inspect USAID-funded projects and hold meetings with government officials and development partners, the agency reported on August 25.
In Samarkand, Änjali Kaur will attend a roundtable discussion with English teachers to learn how USAID improves instruction. She will also visit a consultation center for migrants and meet entrepreneurs whose businesses have grown after receiving USAID support.
In Tashkent, Änjali Kaur will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Health’s Center for Pharmaceutical Product Safety to ensure international quality standards in the pharmaceutical sector and increase access to high-quality medicines in Uzbekistan.
DAA Kaur covers South and Central Asia, including Uzbekistan, and provides technical services for the Asia region.
Earlier, Daryo reported that USAID Uzbekistan announced on Facebook that David Hoffman has arrived in Tashkent as their new Mission Director. Hoffman will lead USAID's efforts to support the Uzbekistan government's ongoing reform agenda.
