Under the slogans "No to Domestic Violence!" and "Stop Femicide!" in the major cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, protests were organized by activists from the movement against violence against women, Euronews has reported.
The trigger for these actions was a shocking incident that deeply affected the local community in the city of Gradacac.
A man shot his former wife on Friday while live-streaming the event on social media. Subsequently, he took to the streets and continued shooting, killing two more people and injuring three. The perpetrator then attempted to flee but was apprehended by the police and reportedly took his own life.
It is known that he had a criminal record for attempted murder and aggressive behavior. The police have stated that they will be tracking down users who left supportive comments or incited the shooter.
Media reports indicate that around 20,000 viewers witnessed the live broadcast.
