Kazakhstan's Ministry for Investment and Development has proposed changes to the regulations governing the export of certain types of timber.
The amendments suggest a six-month ban on the export of specific types of timber, except for wooden sleepers made of conifers for railway or tram tracks, and impregnated wood pellets with Kazakhstan as the country of origin.
This change is aimed at developing the country's domestic wood processing industry and is in line with the law "On the regulation of trade activities" and the annex to the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union.
The order's new version is open for public discussion until August 8.
Reportedly, there have been previous extensions of the export ban on certain types of timber since June 10, 2023.
