The exclusion of Kylian Mbappe from Paris St Germain's squad for their Asian pre-season tour is a significant development that highlights the ongoing tensions between the player and the club, reports Reuters on July 21. Reports suggest that Mbappe has been put up for sale by PSG, given his refusal to renew his contract, which is set to expire at the end of the next season. This decision comes after PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi stated that they would not let Mbappe leave for free, especially considering the substantial amount the club spent, €180 mn ($200 mn), to sign him.
The strained relations between Mbappe and PSG have been fueled by the player's apparent intention to join Real Madrid for free next summer. Media reports indicate that the Parisian club has decided to put the 24-year-old forward on the market as they believe he has already agreed to terms with the Spanish giants.
While PSG has dominated Ligue 1, winning nine of the last 11 titles, their inability to clinch the coveted Champions League trophy has been a source of frustration for both the team and Mbappe. The club's early exit in the last 16 round this year, where they were defeated by Bayern Munich without scoring a goal in either leg, only added to the disappointment. Mbappe's injury during the first leg compounded the team's difficulties, and he expressed their sense of helplessness in the second leg.
In addition to the uncertainty surrounding Mbappe's future, there have been rumours about Brazilian forward Neymar's potential departure from the club as well. However, he has been included in coach Luis Enrique's squad for the Asian tour, signalling that his situation is distinct from Mbappe's.
