Taylor Swift has achieved a remarkable feat in the music industry, solidifying her status as one of the most successful artists of our time. With her latest album, Speak Now (Taylor's Version), debuting at the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart, Swift has become the first woman and only the third artist overall to have four albums simultaneously in the Top 10, The Guardian reports on July 17. This achievement surpasses a record previously held by the iconic Barbra Streisand. Additionally, Swift's Speak Now (Taylor's Version) garnered the largest week for any album in 2023, amassing an impressive 716,000 album-equivalent units, combining physical sales, digital sales, and streaming figures.
What makes this accomplishment even more exceptional is the fact that Swift's other albums, Midnights, Lover, and Folklore, are also in the Top 10, securing her dominance across multiple spots on the chart. This makes her the first woman since the inception of the charts in 1963 to achieve such a milestone, and the first living artist to do so since 1966 when Herb Alpert achieved a similar record. The only other artist to have accomplished placing at least four titles in the Top 10 concurrently is the late Prince, who achieved this shortly after his passing in 2016.
In addition to her chart success, Taylor Swift has now surpassed Barbra Streisand as the female artist with the most No. 1 albums in history. Previously tied with 11 No. 1 albums each, Swift's latest accomplishment elevates her to a new height in her career.
Furthermore, Swift's albums have consistently delivered massive debuts, as demonstrated by four of her albums now accounting for the top five biggest debuts of the last five years. Adele's 2021 album, 30, takes the fourth spot, just ahead of Speak Now (Taylor's Version).
