According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's interview with ABC News, if Kyiv were to abandon the territories under Russia's control, President Joe Biden could end the conflict in Ukraine within five minutes.
However, Kyiv is not willing to take that path. Zelensky also commented on former US President Donald Trump's promise to resolve the conflict within the first day of his presidency if he won the 2024 election. Zelensky acknowledged that Trump had a chance to end the conflict during his presidency but had other priorities.
Regarding the upcoming US elections and post-election assistance to Kyiv, Zelensky stated that it is an internal matter for the United States. However, he expressed hope for bipartisan support from both political parties.
Zelensky did not dispute The Washington Post's publication regarding Ukrainian authorities informing CIA Director William Burns during his recent visit to Kyiv about the goal of advancing toward the borders of Crimea and initiating negotiations with Moscow. According to Zelensky, this represents a clear and logical rhetoric.
Regarding the conclusion of hostilities, Zelensky believes they should end with justice and peace, ensuring Ukraine's territorial integrity. He emphasized that ending the "hot phase" of the conflict and freezing it does not mean its resolution.
