The Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan, Abdusamat Muminov, has announced that the Central Asian country will soon use a new mineral fertilizer terminal in Baku port. He added Uzbekistan has been utilizing the Poti Sea Port in Georgia for exporting its goods, but the infrastructure of the Baku Port is more advanced, media reports.
As part of the second phase of the modernization of the Baku Port, a new terminal for mineral fertilizers will begin operating, which will also serve the needs of Uzbekistan. The possibilities of dry cargo and RoRo ports were also explored, with new ships built for two-story carriages showcased to help reduce delivery times.
'By improving operational activities, transportation time has been reduced by half, from a month to two weeks. Thanks to these efforts, not only Uzbekistan but Central Asia as a whole uses the transport potential of Azerbaijan', the Deputy Minister of Transport Abdusamat Muminov told the media.
Uzbekistan has already been successfully using the infrastructure of the Baku Port, especially for sugar importation, with plans to increase the sugar supply through Azerbaijan to 300,000 this year. The terminal for mineral fertilizers at the Baku Port is expected to be operational in June-July this year.
