Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy has announced its plans to install solar panels at Karakalpak State University in Berdakha, aiming to meet 70% of the university's electricity needs. Additionally, a modern building and an innovative laboratory will be established by the end of 2023.
The university's building has an average annual energy consumption of 980kW, and in 2022, a solar power plant with a capacity of 100kW will be installed in the main building. To further reduce energy consumption, the roofs of all school buildings and student public facilities will also be equipped with solar panels, providing a combined power capacity of 880kW. This initiative is estimated to cost $8.5mn.
Furthermore, within the premises, four public schools will have water heaters and solar collectors with a capacity of 5,000 liters each.
Recently, it was also announced that three additional solar power stations will be installed in different parts of the country.
