In an interview with CNN, Ihor Zhovkva, the deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential office, stated that the ultimate objective of the Ukrainian counteroffensive is to reclaim all the occupied territories, including Crimea.
Zhovkva mentioned that the counteroffensive has already commenced in certain areas, although he did not provide specific details. He also acknowledged that achieving all the goals may require several months.
He highlighted that this is not the first time the Ukrainian army has conducted a counteroffensive, as Russian forces were previously expelled from the Kharkiv and Kherson regions.
Zhovkva further stated that the ongoing offensive may not be the final one, emphasizing the need for Ukraine to acquire more artillery and ammunition.
Regarding the current state of Ukraine's counterattack, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on June 10 that defensive and counteroffensive operations were underway in the country, without providing specific information about their progress.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense reported on June 12 that the Ukrainian military forces liberated seven settlements in the Donetsk and Tavri operational districts within a week.
The British Defense Parliament has also reported that a significant offensive is expected to occur in different parts of Donbas in the near future.
