Turkmenistan has signed a decree to purchase six passenger Boeing aircrafts, media reports.
The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhanedow, submitted a proposal to renew and strengthen the air fleet, which was approved and signed on June 10.
The "Turkmenhowayollary" Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers has been authorized to enter into a contract with Boeing for four "Boeing 737-800" aircraft models. Additionally, two "Boeing 777-300ER" models will be purchased through contracts with US companies, TMHCC-Air 1 and TMHCC-Air 2.
These acquisitions align with Turkmenistan's National Programme for the Development of Civil Aviation until 2030 and are expected to aid the country in achieving its aviation objectives.
The Boeing 777-300ER can cover a distance of up to 12,000 km, whereas the Boeing 737-8 and Boeing 737 Max 8 models have a flying range of up to 6570 km.
Daryo previously reported that Uzbekistan Airports has partnered with Changi Airport International to enhance Islam Karimov Tashkent, the largest international airport in Uzbekistan and the third busiest airport in Central Asia in terms of passenger traffic in 2019. The imposition of sanctions on Russia has led to a surge in air transport growth in the CIS, with several routes that formerly passed through Russia now redirected to other CIS member states.
Recently, Uzbekistan Airways has made significant strides in expanding its fleet with the addition of modern Airbus A320 neo-family and Boeing 787 Dreamliners. Furthermore, the newly established Qanot Sharq domestic airline has equipped its aircrafts with Airbus A321 neo planes.
