Hussein Amir-Abdollahian, Iranian Foreign Minister, and, Hassan Kazemi Qumi, special representative and chargé d'affaires in Kabul, told IRIB that they reached positive results on the issue of Iran's access to Helmand River. Also, according to him, the Taliban assured that the clash at the border on May 27 was not deliberate on their part. The clashes resulted in the deaths of 3 people and the injury of a number of others.
The diplomat warned that, given how many points of contact Iran and Afghanistan have, their common enemies can use any of them to try to sow enmity between brotherly peoples, but nothing will come of it.
Both countries have experienced drought extensively, especially in the regions near this river, so access to its waters is essential.
