Kazakhstan intends to increase its international flight options this year.
The Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development, Marat Karabayev, has confirmed that air travel through the Central Asian country is proliferating, with a 90% increase in flights compared to last year.
There are 706 domestic flights per week on 56 routes and 103 routes to 27 countries for international travel. In addition, Kazakhstan intends to add nine new destinations, counting Doha, Kuala Lumpur, Ankara, Karachi, Lahore, Jeddah, Muscat, Prague, and Tel Aviv, with more plans for the future.
Besides, the country plans to modernize airports in Shymkent, Almaty, Kyzylorda, and Kostanay in 2023 and reconstruct the Pavlodar airport runway, Balkhash airport taxiway, and apron.
According to media reports, Kazakhstan boasts the highest compliance rate of 82% with international flight safety standards among the CIS countries.
