The lectures of Askar Akayev, the country's former president, were canceled at the Razzokov Kyrgyz State Technical University, press secretary of the Polytechnic University Aynura Sultonova informs.
The overturned Kyrgyz leader arrived in Bishkek on May 20 with his wife Mayram Akayeva with plans to speak at Kyrgyz educational institutions and the Academy of Sciences.
Askar Akayev's plans to lecture at higher educational institutions in Bishkek angered the deputies at the meeting of the Kyrgyz Parliament on May 23. People's deputies Oybek Matkarimov and Mirlan Chiniboyev emphasized that the lectures of the exiled president are not needed in higher educational institutions of the capital.
Parliament member Kunduzbek Sulaymanov demanded the Minister of Education of Kyrgyzstan Kanibek Imanaliev to take action against the rector of the Polytechnic University.
