The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, may embark on a journey to Uzbekistan in 2023. The news of his anticipated impending visit was announced on May 5, 2023, by the Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, media reports.
Speaking at the Uzbekistan-France intergovernmental commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, the minister emphasized that the efforts of both governments are required to guarantee a fruitful outcome.
President Macron's anticipated visit follows an invitation extended to him by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of Uzbekistan, during his two-day visit to France in November 2022.
Reportedly, only one other French President, François Mitterrand, visited Uzbekistan in the past, back in April 1994.
