Kazakhstan will upgrade the Temir-Baba checkpoint on the border with Turkmenistan by the end of 2024, according to the State Revenue Department of Mangistau Region of Kazakhstan.
During this period, vehicular and personal traffic will be restricted.
The project will introduce modern control, communication, data transmission and exchange technologies and equip the checkpoint with the latest equipment for the control of individuals, luggage, goods and vehicles.
It is expected that the capacity of the border crossing will be increased by a factor of 8 to 12. Warehouses, parking areas, quarantine areas, and separate lanes for large/heavy vehicles will also be developed.
Turkmenistan borders Kazakhstan on the Caspian Sea, and the length of the land border between the two countries is 458,263 km.
