A freight train departed from Langfang City in northern China's Hebei Province on the morning of April 28, heading to Uzbekistan's capital Tashkent, media reports.
The new China-Europe freight train route covers around 6,000 kilometers, beginning in China through the Horgos Pass in Xinjiang, passing through Kazakhstan, and finally reaching its destination 15 days later. The cargo includes cotton goods and furniture hardware, weighing more than 1,400 tonnes with a total value of over 14.5mn yuan (about $2.09mn).
Reportedly, in 2023, Langfang's foreign trade has grown significantly, reaching $11.83bn, up 23.5% YoY from January to March.
Deputy Director Zhang Chao of the Langfang Municipal Development and Reform Commission stated that the new route would reduce transportation times and costs of goods between Langfang and Central Asia, smoothing out industrial and supply chains and providing a solid guarantee for local international logistics channels and export-oriented economic development.
