Kazakhstan's economy grew by 4.9% in the first quarter of 2023, the country's Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov reported on April 19.
"Kazakhstan's economy grew by 4.9% in the first quarter of 2023. At the same time, the intensification of sanctions policies in the world, the disruption of logistics chains, and the rise in inflation and food prices continue to have a major impact on the global economic slowdown. In particular, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) raised the world inflation forecast to 7% in 2023, and the world economic growth forecast declined to 2.8%", the PM said.
He added that despite the adverse external situation, in 2022, the natural growth rate of the Kazakh economy amounted to 3.2%. The country attracted $28bn in foreign direct investment.
