At the end of last year, Vimpelcom (operating under the Beeline brand) sold more than 55 percent of its stake in Uzbekistan's fixed internet provider, Buzton, to Uzbektelecom. TASS informs based on the financial report of the Russian company for 2022.
The purchase agreement of the share of Buzton joint-stock company by the state operator of Uzbekistan was concluded on December 30, 2022 when the Uzbek Telecommunication monopoly acquired 55.37 percent of Buzton from Vimpelcom. No further contract details were provided.
Buzton is a joint venture between the Uzbektelecom company and Veon telecommunications holding of the Netherlands (the parent company of Vimpelcom). Since 2009, it has started providing internet and telephone services under the Beeline brand.
In 2004, the stated stake in Buzton was acquired by the Golden Telecom group, later by VimpelCom, and in 2021, the Russian mobile operator became its direct owner as a result of the reorganization.
