The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Beijing at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) organized a briefing on constitutional reform in the Central Asian country, Dunyo reports.
The event saw officials from China's Foreign Ministry, the SCO Secretariat leadership, Ambassadors and diplomats of SCO member States, and permanent representatives of member states.
Reportedly, during the constitutional reform, the constitutions of almost all countries of the world, in particular the SCO countries, were studied in detail.
The participants drew particular attention to the fact that in this process, the safeguarding of human rights and freedoms enshrined as the supreme responsibility of the State, the principle of 'human-society-State' in the draft became the main criterion. As a result, human rights standards increased by 3.5 times because the Constitution defines the principle that Uzbekistan is a social State.
New developments supporting youth and education, gender equality, entrepreneurship, access to free information, social protection, and environmental rights were also highlighted.
