Work on the modernization of water supply systems and road networks has been started in Samarkand with the participation of the Abu Dhabi Development Fund(ADDF), UzA reports.
A loan agreement was signed between Uzbekistan and ADDF to implement the 2022-2026 project with a 4-year grace period and a repayment period of 17 years. Worley Parsons Uzbekistan Engineering LLC developed the feasibility study of the project and the tender documents.
In order to speed up the project, the scope of work was divided into 4 lots, international tenders were announced under the condition of "handover of ready construction work".
According to the tender results, a project totaling $32.9mn will be carried out by a consortium consisting of New Tech Samarkand, Sinoindustrial Tashkent, and Turkish Tekar Teknik Arastirma Ticaret Limited.
The second lot includes a tunnel at the intersection of Gagarin and Mirzo Ulugbek streets (total length 750 m.) and at the junction of Gagarin and Rudakiy streets (total length 650 m.) and a 78-meter tunnel over the railway on Gagarin Street, along this street. A 165m. bridge will be built over the Siyob canal.
The construction of these tunnels and bridges, with a total cost of $84.2mn, will be carried out by a consortium of enterprises "Me'mor Utkir Chovka LLC" and Shaanxi Road and Bridge Group Co., Ltd. of China.
The third ($31.6 mn) and fourth ($13.9 mn) lots are related to Samarkand city water facilities, including the reconstruction of Dahbet and Chopon ota water facilities and 6 pumping stations. It is planned to build 13.9 km of new drinking water networks on Temur and Gagarin streets.
These facilities will be built by a consortium consisting of Uzbekistan's MESMER-EAST LLC and Turkey's GÜÇLÜ INŞAAT.
