The posters with the slogan ‘Woman is the power of society’ visitors of «Kazpost» departments will be able to see all over Kazakhstan from this Monday. The postal operator of Kazakhstan joined the joint initiative of the Office of the UN Permanent Coordinator in Kazakhstan, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to combat gender stereotypes. The campaign is timed to International Women’s Day, Kazpost told Daryo correspondent.
'Our company employs women of different professions and world views, and their share is 74%. The main goal of our ladies is to achieve success and to strive for the development of their professional and personal competencies. Therefore, gender equality is one of the main goals in implementing the principles of sustainable development of the company. We live in the age of digital technologies that allow women to develop their businesses on electronic trading platforms, engage in distance learning and combine work and family - that is, to develop in all aspects of life. The theme of International Women’s Day underscores this. I am sure that the merit of women on this path does not go unnoticed', Asel Zhanasova, Chairman of the Board of Kazpost said.
She clarified that the action organizers developed posters with slogans in Kazakh and Russian languages with the image of Kazpost employees. With the support of the national postal operator, posters were placed in two thousand offices in all regions of the country.
'Visitors are asked to scan the QR code using a smartphone and go to the online quiz page dedicated to International Women’s Day. After answering simple questions, the participant gets the opportunity to participate in the prize draw. Summing up the results of the action and prize drawing from the organizers will be held at the end of March this year, Asel Zhanasova concluded.
According to Ronnie Lindstrom, UNFPA Representative in Kazakhstan and Country Director in Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, for many years, UNFPA has been advocating for women and girls, promoting legal and policy reforms, and gender-sensitive data collection. We also support initiatives to improve the health and empowerment of women and girls. Today it is widely recognized that the advancement of women and their rights benefits the whole society, Ronnie Lindstrom said.
