Jazeera Airways has unveiled its plans to launch a third connection to Uzbekistan, particularly a route connecting Kuwait International Airport (KWI) with Uzbekistan's Samarkand International Airport (SKD), media reports.
Reportedly, the new route will be operated twice weekly, with one flight departing KWI on Wednesdays. Once at SKD, the plane will be turned and returned to KWI. The same operation will be repeated on Sundays. The airline plans to launch the route with operations commencing on March 1.
‘We have been steadily developing our presence in Central Asia, and Uzbekistan has been a particular success for us with continuing growth opportunities. We are pleased to be adding Samarkand to our network in the region. To date, Samarkand has limited direct international flight connections. We hope that our direct flights from Kuwait will make the city more accessible for both inbound and outbound passengers’, CEO of Jazeera Airways, Rohit Ramachandran, said.
Jazeera Airways has operated flights between Uzbekistan and Kuwait for the past two years. In 2021, the airline was the first to connect Kuwait to Uzbekistan with direct flights to the capital city of Tashkent twice a week. In 2022, Jazeera Airways also started flying to the third-largest city in the country, Namangan.
