Uzbekistan participates in the MedSafetyWeek2022 campaign, the Agency on Development of Pharmaceutical Industry under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan has reported. The movement organized at the Geneva-based World Health Organization initiative has attracted over 80 countries across the globe.
This year's campaign focuses on the vital role of healthcare professionals and patients who contribute to the safety of medicines by reporting a suspected adverse reaction. All drugs may cause side effects in some patients, so there are steps in place to monitor safety after the pharmaceuticals are placed on the market. Safety monitoring aims to gain more data on discovered side effects and identify new ones.
The Ministry of Health and the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency appreciate the efforts of physicians to gather valuable information and encourage medical professionals to report more actively on unwanted reactions observed, as this will make medicines safer and more effective, the message says.
