About 34.4% of total borrowings in Uzbekistan are preferential loans. The Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, Behzod Hamroyev, informed about this during a dialogue with businessmen, the Daryo correspondent reports.
Hamroyev said that the number of preferential loans in the economy was high.
"The preferential loans consist of the service industry and family business borrowings to cover a certain percentage of loans. This may cause a burden on banks in terms of interest."
During the pandemic, in 2020-2021, all banks of Uzbekistan extended loans worth 80 trillion soums to support entrepreneurs. Although, this was a great support, around 10 % i.e., 8 trillion soum extended loans have become problem loans,” the Deputy Chairman said.
It was reported that in the last 7 months of 2022, 11 trillion soums of the total 30 trillion soums of credit to support exports were channeled to the working capital, and the rest are directed to the financing of investment projects.
Earlier, Behzod Hamroyev announced that in 2021, the total volume of allocated loans in Uzbekistan exceeded 16 billion dollars. Also, in the last 7 months of 2022, 101 trillion soums of loans were given to residents and entrepreneurs in the republic.
