In 2025, the Medical Insurance Fund will receive an additional UZS 185bn (approximately $14.3mn) for surgical operations for those in need. This was announced during a videoconference on December 13, chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, where he discussed the progress in social protection and set tasks for 2025.
Funds from the “Social Notebooks” will be directed towards improving the living conditions of low-income families, providing medical and educational services, and increasing their income. To ensure fairness, these funds will be distributed according to the number of poor people in each district.
District governors (khokims) will be allowed to use 30% of these funds for neighborhood improvements, including housing, roads, water, and electricity, particularly in areas with “Inson” centers.
Regarding social housing, 25,000 people currently live in 400 multi-story social buildings. However, it was noted that many residents are moving far from their families and familiar surroundings.
To address this, families in need will no longer be placed in the same social housing units. Instead, they will be given the option to rent homes near their communities, with the cost covered by the government, according to the President’s press service.
Mansur Olloyorov, Director of the Social Protection Agency, has been tasked with overseeing these changes.
