The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the United States announces the expansion of sanctions against the Russian Federation, targeting seven individuals and one legal entity. The specific reasons for their inclusion in the sanctions list have not been disclosed.
In addition to this latest development, the US Department of Commerce had previously announced in May the implementation of new export restrictions on over 1,200 products, spanning various sectors such as paper, textiles, equipment, transportation, and construction materials, as part of its measures against Russia.
It is worth noting that the United States had already imposed a comprehensive package of sanctions on Russia earlier, which encompassed numerous individuals and legal entities.
The newly sanctioned individuals include Elvira Nabiullina, the head of the Central Bank of Russia, Olga Skorobogatova, her deputy, Alexandra Novak, Deputy Prime Minister, as well as various family members of prominent figures in the Russian government, such as Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Dmitry Medvedev (Deputy Representative of the Security Council), Sergey (son of the Chairman of the Council) and Valentina Matvienko, and Sergei Shoigu (head of the Russian Ministry of Defense).
