The State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic has announced the detainment of over 30 individuals who were allegedly planning to incite mass riots and acts of disobedience in order to seize power. Daryo reported on these events June 5, as video footage was released showing arrests in process.
These arrests were part of a special operation, initiated based on the evidence provided in audio and video materials, which led to the launch of a criminal case and subsequent searches of the accused individuals' properties.
The detainees, who were reportedly planning this coup for about a year, managed to gather a network of supporters throughout the country, specifically recruiting disgruntled Kyrgyz citizens.
Roza Sarlykovna Nurmatova, a civil activist and the leader of the Eldik Kenesh political party, has been identified as the main orchestrator of this group. Under her direction, numerous meetings were conducted where the details of a potential power seizure were discussed.
The scheme involved more than 100 people from different regions of the country, each of whom were assigned specific roles. The group also allegedly used foreign funds to finance their operations and provide compensation to its members.
Audio and video evidence of these negotiations, which detailed plans for mass riots and the violent overthrow of the government, have been released by the State Committee for National Security.
The Committee is now conducting further investigations to identify any other individuals who may have been involved in this criminal endeavor.
