The leader of Tajikistan warmly congratulated his colleague on the successful holding of a national referendum on amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The parties also discussed the practical implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level. The Uzbek-Tajik relations of strategic partnership and alliance have strengthened, as well as the dynamics of trade and economic cooperation is growing.
Both leaders noted the importance of careful preparation of the agenda of the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and the second Forum of Regions in order to accelerate ongoing cooperation projects and develop new areas of practical interaction.
The heads of state exchanged views on regional cooperation, including in the context of preparations for the forthcoming Fifth Anniversary Consultative Meeting of the heads of Central Asian states that will be held on September 14-15, 2023 in Dushanbe.
Both countries place a high premium on the growth of bilateral trade and their trade turnover reached $674.4mn in 2022.
